I've been in a very wolfy mood ever since my bio teacher gave a presentation on the gray wolf yesterday. So I decided to draw one. I've been wanting to do fur again anyway. I used the same method as in my wolf eye drawing [link] but this time gave a much different color variation. It was a lot of fun.

This took about four hours and forty-five minutes.

It's fucking awesome, I love the fur detail. And the eyes are fantastic 8D

Did it not show up in your devWatch? I have a feeling it didn't show up on the main search page, because I got zero favs for it when I first posted it. I was afraid it glitched.

lol I cheated on the eye a bit. ^^; I took the eye from my wolf eye drawing, changed the color, and fixed it up a bit. I didn't feel like doing the whole thing over when I already had something that would work just as well...

I really hope to do more stuff like this. Fur is really satisfying and very straight-forward. It's not even 1/100 as hard as human skin and takes about just as long, if not less time, and it looks a lot better in the end. I've got two lineart pieces lined up that I might work with in this style. Even though it's not totally realistic I think it's good enough for me to be happy with it, which is a first. I see its slight alter from realism as a stylistic thing right now instead of a lack of talent, which I've never been able to accept with any of my other stuff. Hopefully I'll stay happy with it.
